Services

Dr. Prater uses a variety of techniques to best treat his patients’ conditions. His emphasis on soft tissue work and myofascial release sets him apart from traditional chiropractors. In addition to his manual therapies, Dr. Prater offers a variety of services to suit his clients’ needs. Please see our full list of services below.

myofascial release
safe and very effective hands-on technique that involves applying gentle, sustained pressure into the myofascial connective tissue restrictions to eliminate pain and restore motion.

deep tissue massage
type of massage therapy that focuses on realigning deeper layers of muscles and connective tissue. especially helpful for chronic aches and pains and contracted areas such as stiff neck and upper back, low back pain, leg muscle tightness, and sore shoulders.

sports massage
geared toward athletes and is used to help prevent injuries, to prepare the body for athletic activity and maintain it in optimal condition, and to help athletes recover from workouts and injuries.

cupping
use of a specially designed cup (or multiple cups) to pull specific areas of skin into a suction to decompress muscles and connective tissue. helps keep the body in balance, increases overall blood flow and reduces pain. some athletes use this type of therapy to decrease muscle recovery time.

graston technique
patented form of instrument-assisted, non-surgical soft tissue mobilization technique to benefit the connective tissues present throughout the body, including bones, organs, muscles, nerves, and surrounding blood vessels. gently breaks up scar tissue limiting mobility, promoting extensive healing.

kinesio / functional movement taping
a rehabilitative taping technique that is designed to facilitate the body's natural healing process while providing support and stability to muscles and joints without restricting the body's range of motion

spinal traction
form of decompression therapy that relieves pressure on the spine. performed manually to treat herniated discs, sciatica, degenerative disc disease, pinched nerves, and many other back conditions.

electrical stimulation therapy
sends mild electrical pulses through the skin to help stimulate injured muscles, prevent or reduce muscle atrophy, or manipulate nerves to reduce pain

interferential current therapy
stimulation made by the interception of two electrical mediums of varying frequencies that work together to successfully stimulate large impulse fibers. These frequencies interfere with the pain transmission messages at the spinal cord level.

microcurrent therapy
a controlled application of low-amp electrical stimulus to specific regions of the body. the electrical current is designed to match a similar amount of electrical activity already present during natural cell activity and repair

cold laser / multi - radiance medical laser
low-intensity laser therapy that stimulates healing while using low levels of light. the technique is called “cold” laser therapy because the low levels of light aren't enough to heat your body's tissue.

shockwave therapy
Shockwave therapy is a non-invasive treatment that utilizes high-energy sound waves to stimulate the body's natural healing process. By promoting blood flow and enhancing tissue regeneration, it aids in accelerating healing for various conditions, including tissue injuries and cellulitis. This therapy can effectively reduce pain by targeting affected areas, offering patients a drug-free and innovative approach to alleviate discomfort and promote overall wellness.

functional movement screen
screening tool used to evaluate seven fundamental movement patterns in individuals with no current pain complaint or musculoskeletal injury. not intended to diagnose orthopedic problems but rather to demonstrate opportunities for improved movement in individuals.

therapeutic exercise
the systematic performance or execution of planned physical movements or activities intended to enable the patient or client to remediate or prevent impairments of body functions and structures, enhance activities and participation, reduce risk, optimize overall health, and enhance fitness and well-being.

running gait analysis
a method for identifying biomechanical abnormalities in the gait cycle that can then be assessed and corrected through the use of orthotics, running or walking shoes, and/or exercises. this analysis helps athletes to run more efficiently and to identify posture-related or movement-related problems in people with injuries.

custom foot orthotics

We take custom molds of your foot and create an orthotic based on exam findings, footwear, and your activities to help keep your feet healthy or improve an issue you may be having.
